OUR FORESTS

At BioBonds, we work to restore forests and revitalise land with care and purpose.

Through the cultivation of native forests, we help rebuild biodiversity, strengthen ecosystems, and create long-term environmental benefits.

Guided by the concept of tāmata (meaning to renew or bring new life) our approach is rooted in respect for the land and those connected to it. We work alongside local iwi, councils, and ecologists to ensure our forests are restored thoughtfully and sustainably.

By transforming steep and retired farmland into thriving native forests, we’re showing what’s possible when land is given the chance to recover. Our work honours the land while creating a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations.

TAMATA HILLS

The pilot forest, owned by Paul and his business partner overlooks the Kaipara Harbour and consists of 140ha of steep grade 7 farmland that has been revitalised to indigenous forest. The restoration of Tāmata Hills began in 2021 and was completed in 2022. The Green Team have now planted more than 820,000 native trees.

GREAT BARRIER ISLAND

This 65 hectare project on Aotea Great Barrier Island is already well into natural regeneration, with approximately 65 percent of the land actively recovering under protection. Current estimates show carbon sequestration of around 3 to 6 tonnes of CO₂e per hectare per year, equating to approximately 454 tonnes annually. As regeneration continues, the site will deliver increasing long term carbon, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience outcomes.

BIOBONDS INVESTMENT PIPELINE

BioBonds is building an investment pipeline of regenerative land projects, securing areas of steep hill country to be transitioned into permanent native forest, protected through long-term covenanting. These landscapes are restored and stewarded for the long term, ensuring native forests remain standing in perpetuity. Each project is funded through BioBonds investment structures, with land held under clear governance and managed for enduring ecological, climate, and generational value.
