OUR PROJECTS
RESTORING OUR FORESTS ONE TREE AT A TIME
OUR FORESTS
At BioBonds, we work to restore forests and revitalise land with care and purpose.
At BioBonds, we work to restore forests and revitalise land with care and purpose. Through the cultivation of native forests, we help rebuild biodiversity, strengthen ecosystems, and create long-term environmental benefits.
Guided by the concept of tāmata — meaning to renew or bring new life — our approach is rooted in respect for the land and those connected to it. We work alongside local iwi, councils, and ecologists to ensure our forests are restored thoughtfully and sustainably.
By transforming steep and retired farmland into thriving native forests, we’re showing what’s possible when land is given the chance to recover. Our work honours the land while creating a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations.
TAMATA HILLS
The pilot forest, owned by Paul and his business partner overlooks the Kaipara Harbour and consists of 140ha of steep grade 7 farmland that has been revitalised to indigenous forest. The restoration of Tāmata Hills began in 2021 and was completed in 2022. The Green Team have now planted more than 820,000 native trees.
BIOBONDS FORESTS
BioBonds plans to follow in the footsteps of Tāmata Hills and secure significant areas of steep hill country land to convert it to permanent native forest, covenanted in perpetuity. That means they can never again be cut down. Each farm will be funded through the sale of BioBonds and the land will be owned by a non-profit charitable foundation.
